Director
Carin Jacobs is a museum educator and scholar of museum studies. She earned a B.A. in French Literature from UC Santa Cruz and earned her M.A. in Museum Studies from John F. Kennedy University with a focus on education and public programming. Carin has worked for a number of Bay Area museums, including SFMOMA, the Oakland Museum of California, and the Magnes, managing interdisciplinary cultural programs for adult and college audiences. Her main areas of interest are object-based learning, museum literacy, and the integration of museums in college teaching. Carin also teaches two courses for CARE and the GTU each year, including Museum Literacy and Flavors of Faith: Perspectives on Food, Religion and Culture.

CARE / Doug Adams Gallery Associate
Christina Vander Vos is currently working on her joint graduate degree at John F. Kennedy University in Berkeley: MA in Museum Studies/MBA. A first year student in the program, she has identified the intersection of museums and spirituality as her primary focus. Prior to her graduate work, Christina earned a BA in History at the University of Montana, where her Senior Thesis explored the Intercultural Relations between Irish and Chinese Immigrants in Butte, Montana during the late 1800s. Her interests also extend to global studies, as reflected in her international studies in France, and her time as a teaching assistant through the French Embassy. Her tenure as a relief worker with local churches after Hurricane Katrina allowed her to follow her passion for bridging economic and religious difference through service. Christina’s double focus on arts administration and business perfectly positions her to support CARE’s efforts both in the office and in the gallery.
Exhibition Designer and Installer
Ernest Jolly is originally from Cleveland, Ohio, and is an Oakland based exhibition designer and installation artist. He received his MFA in studio art from Mills College and continues to design for the Mills College Art Museum, the De Saisset Museum, Patricia Sweetow Gallery and a number of other arts centers both locally and nationally.
CARE Gallery Interns
Kasey Johnson is a student at Pacific School of Religion, majoring in history. His studies at the Graduate Theological Union build upon his work in religion and history at Illinois College. He has experience with local historical societies conducting research, transcribing oral histories, and participating in Civil War reenactments. Kasey has a strong interest in the museum field, and is happy to be joining our team.
Kate Grzeca is currently pursuing a Masters of Theological Studies at the Pacific School of Religion with a focus in History, Art, and Spirituality and is an archivist for the Center for Lesbian and Gay Studies. Prior to arriving at PSR, Kate spent three years in education, teaching high school both here in the bay area and abroad in France. She particularly enjoyed her time teaching elementary and middle school art, having had the opportunity to create an art history curriculum for middle schoolers that included both demonstrational and experiential components that exposed students to the traditions of Western sacred and religious art, iconography, and architecture. Kate is also an art student herself and creates in several media, from sketches and oils to collaging to pottery and furniture-making.
