Rev. James L. Friedrich - Film and Worship
As Episcopal priest, filmmaker, liturgical creative, musician, writer, storyteller and teacher, the Rev. James L. Friedrich has specialized in a ministry of imagination, exploring diverse means for mediating the sacred through image, ritual and story. His pioneering work in multi-media and installation liturgies over the last forty years has foreshadowed many of the current emergent worship forms. He is a featured storyteller in The Electronic Campfire: New Storytelling from Scripture, a retelling of biblical narratives from the Easter Vigil. He has also written and directed such videos as The Story of the Episcopal Church and The Story of Anglicanism; The Greening of Faith: Why the Environment is a Christian Concern; and A Thin Place: Iona and the Celtic Way.
He teaches methodologies for liturgical innovation as well as theology and cinema. |
